Easing Hunger Since 2000
Lynn Staggs first launched this mission in single room and later in a building on 7th Avenue. Since moving to our Spartanburg Highway location, the Storehouse has continued to grow larger, as the needs of individuals and families increased in Henderson County. In 2019, we distributed more than 420,000 lbs. of food to our neighbors in need. We assisted 11,475 individuals (4,368 households) in 2022. In 2023, our new client list more than doubled vs. 2022. We distributed 19,820 boxes/bags of food in 2024. That's a 41% increase over 2023.
Most people pick up their food boxes, but 60 of our seniors and special needs clients receive a monthly delivery. Volunteer teams pack and deliver the food boxes, and since January 2020, non-food essentials as well. Of course, we are here to assist emergency food needs, as they arise.
Since 2000, "Blessings in Boxes" has provided Christmas gifts for children referred by schools and local agencies. In 2024, your generosity brought smiles and Christmas blessings to 2700+ children from 1031 families.
